To spice up our signature hojicha lattes, we prepared these oven-roasted persimmons as the perfect accent to their smoky, fall flavor. Persimmons are such an underappreciated fruit, but their honeyed, slightly tart flavor and beautiful shapes elevate any drink to an art form.
What you need: Persimmons and an oven (full size or toaster oven)
How to: Wash persimmons and cut in half horizontally, with the leaves on one half and the bottom on the other. Keep the leaves on to help preserve the fruit juice.
Toaster oven: Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes in a toaster oven and presto! Beautiful garnish for your next concoction.
Regular oven: Preheat oven to 400 degrees and cook for 10 minutes, but make sure to add ice cubes to the bottom of the oven, or cover whole tray with foil to keep the fruit moist.
